I am adopted. My only crime, in this supposed "free" society, was being born, and then
surrendered to the closed adoption system. For my crime, I have to live a life separated from my heritage, medical history, biological relatives, and most information about myself that a non-adopted person takes for
granted everyday of his or her life. I must live as a second-class citizen in the United States of America whose very foundation is based on the belief
"...That all men are created equal, that they are endowed with certain inalienable rights, that among those are life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness..."
I must live in a society where I am viewed as a bastard because of the circumstances of
my birth.
