The B.E.S.T. list was started in December, 1996. It is a mailing list for members of Bastard Nation (including friends of Bastard Nation).

The B.E.S.T. List is for discussing any adoption issue, but particularly for the purpose of training and educating BN membership in reform issues, triad outreach and public relations. It can also be a breeding ground for creative expressions of the Bastard experience as well as a forum for discussing and developing ideas and strategies for action.

While some of our membership are in the process of searching for their birth relatives, this is NOT a search mailing list. While members are supportive of each other, this is not a support group mailing list. This list is primarily a list that deals with adoptee rights activism.

Since the list was formed, the B.E.S.T. list has been at the center of mobilizing direct action for the adoptee rights movement. We have had countless letter writing campaigns and organized various outreach events to get the word out about open records.

Bastard Nation believes that an informed and dynamic membership is an effective membership. B.E.S.T. welcomes fresh ideas, lively debate and a willingness to actively participate in the building of a powerful new movement dedicated to adoptee rights and dignity.
