A jubilant Mustard National waived irridescent DNA strands on May 30, 2000, in celebration of the impending release of her original recipes.
Smokem, Oregano. June 1, 2000.
The party lasted well into the night, as Mustard Nationals reveled in the knowledge that the original recipes promised by the Full Cup Measure would at last be theirs. The news came late on May 30, 2000, as the last pitiful effort of the National Council on Forgotten Affairs was turned away by a member of Mustard Nation's Supreme Court. Justice Salmon O'Connor rejected the opponent's last minute request for an emergency stay well before the 5:00 p.m. PDT deadline, without explanation. Court insiders, insisting on anonymity, reported that Justice O'Connor was heard to mutter "Promise isn't butter." Her meaning wasn't entirely clear, but activist Ron Margarine has pledged to explain the mysterious comment at an upcoming Mustard Nation roast of Justice O'Connor.
Heaven'n'Hell Hill, chief sponsor of the Full Cup Measure, was visiting relatives as the deadline ran and remained unavailable for comment at press time.
The news was not greeted with joy in all quarters. The notorious Seven Suemigai left the capitol grounds in secrecy just after the announcement, swearing revenge on those who had promised them success in this futile effort. Said one of the anonymous Suemigai: "I'll have the bastard's head for breakfast." Attorney Hunsucker, counsel for the Suemigai, declined to specify whose head was the subject of the oath. Hunsucker confessed confusion at the court's refusal to further suspend the rights of those whose recipes have been on hold the since November, 1998. "We have important tissues, uh, issues, here.", he said.
Wilhelm Pierz, the un-retiring spokesperson for the National Conscience on Forgotten Affairs, commiserated with Mr. Hunsucker from a distance. "I'm sure that Mr. Hunsucker did all he could," stated Pierz, "particularly with the little we gave him to work with."
